Spice, when photographed at home in Southern California, was 22 years old! That’s impressive, right?! I followed him around from a distance and photographed him as he sat on the couch, took a stroll in the backyard, and came back indoors to snuggle with mom. Spice’s mom had invited me out to take pictures of this senior SoCal cat since she knew she would have to say goodbye to him soon.

He wanted to be right under mom’s chin. Notice the water drop on his chin? We were giving him plenty of food and water breaks and had just come back from his water bowl.

Mom got to choose which portrait was her favorite from her pictures taken at their pet photo session at home. This one of Spice under her chin was their favorite. I created a few artworks for Spice’s family after his photo session in Chino, CA – one of them being a matte-finish print of this image for them to enjoy and remember.

When he wasn’t snuggling in mom’s arms, he was enjoying the sunshine. Spice has some dog companions as well as his people he loves, but the doggies let Spice roam wherever he pleases. (We all know who is really the boss when it comes to cats and dogs, right?!)

Spice’s mom also had me create a handmade pet etching portrait from a photo she had from his younger years. You can see that vintage-looking letterpress-feel art HERE.

Sweet Spice, you will be remembered forever! You were such a loving companion to your mom!
